Grupo Dia is selling its Argentine operations to Grupo De Narváez, owned by Argentine businessman Francisco de Narváez. The sale is part of a restructuring plan under which the supermarket group will henceforth focus entirely on its core market, Spain.
54 million euros in the red
The chain’s Argentine division posted accounting losses of 54 million euros in the twelve months ending in June 2026 and burned through 14 million euros in cash. This has been a millstone around the Spanish group’s neck, as without that burden, Grupo Dia says it shows “a significant improvement in financial performance.” Net revenue rose by 10.2%, the adjusted EBITDA margin stood at 6.9%, and net income (excluding Argentina) even increased by 54% to 169 million euros.
