The family behind the Colmar and Crocodile restaurant chains launches a new attempt at fast food. With Crunch, CEO David and COO Devigné Van den Weghe introduce a new takeout concept aimed at young people and students. The first three locations will open in the coming weeks in Antwerp and Ghent.
Fast-food alternative
Crunch targets an urban audience aged 12 to 25 and serves (halal) rice dishes with toppings such as chicken, salmon, scampi, or plantains. The concept is inspired by a fast-food trend from France, Devigné Van den Weghe tells newspaper GvA. The so-called “crousty’s” cost between 8.95 and 16 euros. CEO David Van den Weghe explicitly positions Crunch as an alternative to traditional fast-food chains: “Crunch offers a healthy alternative to, for example, pizza, hamburgers, and tacos.”
