The recent riots in France are weighing on consumer confidence and threaten to drive up costs, Carrefour says. Despite a rise in sales in the third quarter, the retailer has issued a profit warning.
Security issues are weighing on revenue
In the third quarter of 2026, Carrefour reported a 3.9% increase in revenue to 22.78 billion euros. Like-for-like growth was 2.3%, which is in line with expectations. In France, revenue rose by 1.2%, partly thanks to the recovery of the acquired Cora and Match stores (+6.1%). Internationally, Spain (+2.1%) and Brazil (+1.4%) also contributed to this momentum. In Belgium (which is no longer a core market for the group), comparable sales grew by 2.3%.
