Successful first vintage for Colruyt Group

Colruyt Group has successfully completed the first harvest of its vineyard in Frasnes-Lez-Anvaing. The four days of picking resulted in about 12,000 kg of grapes, good for an estimated 10,000 bottles of Belgian white wine, to be released on the market in spring 2026.

Focus on cool climate wines

On a plot of about 10 hectares, only the four hectares of the oldest white grape varieties, such as Solaris, Muscaris, Johanniter and Souvignier Gris, were harvested this year. The picking was done manually with the help of about 25 local workers. After harvesting, the grapes were transported to Vivardent’s external vinification cellar. Colruyt Group has a partnership with Vivardent for vinification, but starting next year, the group will invest in its own vinification cellar.

The quality of the grapes this year is exceptional, thanks to last year’s dry and hot weather, says Jean-Christophe Verschelde, wine expert at Colruyt Group. Meeting the growing demand for Belgian organic wine, the company is expanding its range, with a focus on cool climate wines from its own production. The first bottles of Belgian white wine are expected in spring 2026. These wines will not initially carry an organic label, as they are still under conversion.
