L’Oréal is worried about the new trade deal between the European Union and the United States. The cosmetics giant wants to secure a tariff exemption, after its performance in the first half of the year fell short of expectations.
Recovery in the US
The new import tariff of 15 % on cosmetics shipped from Europe to the US spells bad news for L’Oréal: if no exemption is granted, the owner of brands like Lancôme and Maybelline does not rule out price increases. Currently, about 30 % of its US sales volume is imported from Europe.
