After twenty years under Chinese ownership, the Marionnaud perfume chain is returning to French hands. David Konckier, CEO and majority shareholder of the Bogart cosmetics group (April and Di), is taking over the struggling retailer. He is inheriting 700 stores, but also sharply declining sales and heavy losses.
Revenue plummets, losses pile up
The decision has been made: the Hong Kong conglomerate CK Hutchison, which incorporated Marionnaud into its retail subsidiary AS Watson twenty years ago, is selling Marionnaud to David Konckier, CEO of the French cosmetics group Bogart. The entrepreneur is acquiring the chain in a personal capacity, through his investment firm Behn. The parties are not disclosing the purchase price.
