Zooplus plans to roll out its marketplace across Europe

Following its launch in France, Zooplus is also launching an online marketplace for external sales partners in its home market of Germany. Over the next years, the online pet supply store plans to gradually expand this model to other countries.

Using AI

Zooplus, the Munich-based online platform for pet supplies, announces the launch of a new marketplace in Germany, its largest market. With this move, the company is adding 10,000 new products, 65% of which are pet accessories. Third-party sales partners, including smaller players and startups, can offer their products through the platform.

For customers, the shopping experience remains unchanged: the products are integrated into the existing online store. Zooplus is leveraging artificial intelligence to supplement product information—such as size or color—and improve product descriptions. The company had previously launched a similar marketplace in France and plans to further roll out the model across Europe. Zooplus operates online stores in 27 European countries.

Ready for rollout

“Our customers are asking us for more choice, relevance and an easy shopping experience, and the launch of our new marketplace in Germany allows us to respond to the feedback and more quickly expand the depth and breadth of our product line,” says Pierre-Yves Delforge, Chief Merchandising Officer at Zooplus, in the press release.

“With two marketplaces in Germany and France now launched, we’re ready to accelerate our marketplace expansion. Marketplaces represent an efficient way for us to quickly respond to the evolving needs of our customers and localize our assortment across different countries.”
