The German discount chain TEDi is acquiring 76 stores in Poland from its sister company Woolworth, which is exiting the Polish market. Both non-food discounters have ambitions for European growth.
“Strengthening market leadership”
TEDi is acquiring Woolworth’s Polish store network. Both companies are owned by the German Heinig family of entrepreneurs. With this acquisition, TEDi—which has been operating in Poland since 2018—will expand its presence there to 372 stores, reports Lebensmittel Zeitung. Woolworth, which launched in Poland in 2023, reportedly underperformed expectations.
