New AI Product Assistant makes online shopping simpler and more personal

(Advertorial) Online shoppers often spend more time searching than buying. Filters, menus, and search functions are still too often frustrating or inaccurate, causing more than half of visitors to drop off before they find what they want. A new AI Product Assistant promises to simplify that process by allowing visitors to simply type what they’re looking for and instantly see the right products.

From frustrating filters to natural interaction

Consumer shopping behavior has changed dramatically in recent years: people want to find what they’re looking for quickly, intuitively, and without frustration. Yet the traditional search bar remains a major pain point for most e-commerce sites. It’s often too limited, fails to understand customer intent, and leads to unnecessary drop-offs in the buying funnel. With the rise of AI, that’s about to change.

The new AI Product Assistant makes it possible to search in natural language — just like asking a question to a store associate. A visitor might type: “I’m looking for a beige coat under 150 euros” or “Show me running shoes for wide feet.” The AI understands the context and instantly displays the right products — no filters, no endless menus. The AI Product Assistant shows relevant products based on natural language — no filters, no menus. In the demo video “Stop searching. Start prompting.” you can see how shoppers find what they want in just one sentence. The goal: fewer drop-offs, more conversions.

E-commerce without friction

“People want quick results, without frustration,” says Willem Drijver, Founder of Taglayer. “The best shopping experience is no longer a search — it’s a conversation. With our AI Product Assistant, we’re bringing that simplicity directly to the webshop.” The tool can be activated in less than one hour, without technical setup or developer support. Retailers can also run A/B tests within their existing e-commerce environment to measure how much faster visitors find the right product.

“It’s not a chatbot that talks just to talk,” Drijver adds. “It’s a functional assistant that truly understands what people want and immediately shows the right products.” The AI Product Assistant was developed by Antwerp-based scale-up Taglayer, which raised 800,000 euros this year to accelerate its European growth. The company sees this launch as the next step in the evolution of e-commerce: moving from filter-based to conversation-driven interfaces.

Retailers who want to test the system can request a demo via www.taglayer.com/landings/assistant or watch the demo video on the same page.
