On Friday, the Dutch non-food discounter Action opened its first store in Slovenia. This marks the sixteenth market for the rapidly growing retailer. Bulgaria will follow soon.
Great potential
Action’s growth potential in Europe is far from reaching its limits. On Friday, September 18, the discounter opened its first store in its sixteenth market, Slovenia. It is located in Velenje, about 75 km northeast of the capital, Ljubljana. A second location will open in Maribor in less than two weeks.
Earlier this year, CEO Hajir Hajji stated that, despite a slight slowdown in growth for Action in Europe, there is still room for approximately 4,650 additional stores. Later this fall, the chain will also launch in Bulgaria. Meanwhile, Action is preparing for its U.S. debut: the company plans to open its first store in the southeastern United States in late 2027 or early 2028. The goal is to have 100 stores there by the end of 2030.
