How Google Shopping disappeared from European search results

European online retailers have lost their free visibility on Google Shopping, just as the end-of-year campaigns are getting underway. After Europe called Google out, it appears that the search engine is removing all organic Shopping results. Instead, Google is heavily investing in AI-commerce.

Bad time for retailers

Since last Wednesday, product carousels above search results have been systematically disappearing across (almost) all of Europe. Productrise discovered this, as reported by Emerce. Just one day earlier, organic Shopping listings were still clearly visible, but after that, the visibility of product links to online stores dropped to nearly zero.
