British non-food discounter B&M has appointed Tjeerd Jegen as its new CEO. The Dutchman previously held top roles at Ahold Delhaize, Hema, Metro, Tesco and Woolworths.
International experience
Jegen will join the retailer on 16 June, succeeding interim CEO Mike Schmidt. B&M relies on Jegen’s broad international experience, as he held held executive positions at Ahold Delhaize, Hema, Metro, Tesco and Woolworths. His latest venture was being at the helm of German chain Takko Fashion for a year and a half.
Non-food discount chain B&M, the UK counterpart of Dutch Action and German TEDi, has 741 shops in the UK and 124 in France. Convenience store chain Heron Foods, with 335 shops in the UK, is also part of the listed group, which has a turnover of six billion euros.
