Four new stores set to open for Jumbo Belgium

Food2 April, 2026

Jumbo hasn’t opened any new stores in Belgium yet this year, but that’s about to change. Lokeren and Ingelmunster are on the schedule soon, and the supermarket chain is also working on at least two other projects for which the buildings are already ready.

Now heading to Mortsel as well

There has been talk of Jumbo coming to Lokeren since 2021, and now the project is very concrete: the opening is “very soon,” according to job postings and Facebook posts. The retailer has not yet announced an exact opening date.

Also in this second quarter, a supermarket with 1,650 m² of floor space is set to open in Ingelmunster. That building was completed a few weeks ago, Jumbo Vastgoed reports on LinkedIn, and construction is underway. The same applies to a 4,000 m² store on the former Makro site in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, a project that was announced last year and is now under construction—the opening is expected by the end of June

More recent news is that Jumbo is also coming to Mortsel, on the outskirts of Antwerp. The retailer plans to move into a new apartment building on Alice Nahonlei in the city center. There are five job openings listed on the company’s website for this neighborhood supermarket, ranging from a specialist for the fresh produce department to a team leader. The company is not yet providing details: “We look forward to opening a Jumbo in Mortsel this year. It is still too early to provide more information on this. We will revisit this later this year at a time of our choosing, ”Jumbo told Gazet Van Antwerpen.
