The protein trend is doing wonders for egg sales

The protein craze is giving egg sales a big boost. At least that’s what Delhaize says, as the retailer sold about 15% more eggs year-over-year. Since the start of this year, the supermarket chain has already sold more than 100 million eggs. Even the traditional summer slump is disappearing.

From Easter brunch to an everyday staple

Since the beginning of 2026, Delhaize has sold over 100 million eggs, spread across more than 10 million packages. As a result, the category is once again growing strongly: on average, egg sales at the retailer are rising by about 15% per year.
