Stach, the Dutch chain of food shops, is nurturing international ambitions: after its two first branches in Paris, cities like Berlin, London or Hamburg should follow.
“15 to 20 new shops”
Today, Stach has 37 branches, in Dutch cities such as Amsterdam, Utrecht and Haarlem: they are often situated in travel locations, hotels and offices. The shops sell coffee, sandwiches, salads and meals. Since 2019, the chain has been owned by catering group Vermaat, which sees particular potential for branches in business premises, where good catering facilities are often lacking.
The company nurtures foreign ambitions: the food chain has just opened two shops at Unesco headquarters and the headquarters of energy agency IEA in Paris, following the acquisition of local caterer Serenest. Additional branches in Paris and Berlin will follow in the coming year. The group is also looking for suitable locations in London, Hamburg and Munich.
“We want to open 15 to 20 new shops in the next two or three years,” general manager Mike Boks told the FD. These will not be exclusively office locations: “We want to stay relevant in the city centre. That is necessary to build the brand. Also in Paris, we want to open at least one shop in the city centre.”
