Every year, Carrefour hypermarkets see their market share increase during the end-of-year period. According to purchasing director Nathalie Matterne, this is entirely due to the extensive product range and focus on innovation.
High share of innovation
“According to NielsenIQ figures, we have a market share of 14% in Belgium, but our innovation share is as high as 30%,” says Nathalie Matterne, who is merchandise director at Carrefour Belgium. The retailer makes a difference with its innovative range. In addition, the market share of hypermarkets always increases during the end-of-year period, when shoppers are looking for inspiration for special dishes and fun gift ideas. The share of private labels also increases in December.
