Milk sales drop, alternative dairy products on the rise

Rice drink, soy milk and other options

 

In total, consumption milk purchases dropped 2 % per person, but because of higher prices, turnover grew 3.6 %, but there is a noticeable shift in the type of milk.

 

Soy and rice milk are already quite accepted, but there are other options as well: oatmeal, almond, coconut, quinoa, … . The rise of these different types of milk is not strictly a Belgian trend, because Alpro claims that sales for these variations have grown 11 %.
