The court has convicted fashion chain Mango for using artworks by renowned Spanish artists such as Miró without permission. The case revolves around artworks converted into NFTs during the opening of a flagship store in New York.
750,000 euro compensation
According to the commercial court of Barcelona, Mango has committed infringement of the intellectual property rights of Antoni Tàpies, Miquel Barceló, and Joan Miró. The incident occurred as part of a promotional campaign during the opening of a Mango store in New York. Five artworks from Mango’s private collection were transformed into non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and digitally distributed via social media and blockchain platforms.
