The European Commission has accused fast-fashion giant Shein of systematically breaching European consumer law. The Chinese platform has to make significant corrections within the next month, or risks heavy fines.
False discounts
In an investigation that started in February, a network of national consumer authorities from countries including Belgium, France, Ireland and the Netherlands found six blatant breaches of European consumer law. The e-commerce platform is accused of giving fake discounts, using false purchase deadlines to put undue pressure on consumers and mislabelling items.
