Princesse Tam Tam and Comptoir des Cotonniers have applied for judicial protection on Friday. The reorganization follows a significant restructuring in 2023 by owner Fast Retailing.
Difficult French market
In 2023, 55 of the 136 stores were closed and 185 of the 507 jobs were cut. The two brands, specializing in lingerie and women’s clothing respectively, belong to the Japanese Fast Retailing Group, of which Uniqlo is the flagship brand.
The application for judicial reorganization confirms the serious financial challenges that the French fashion retail is currently facing. Previously, companies such as Camaïeu, Naf Naf, and recently Jennyfer went bankrupt.
