Kanye “Ye” West calls himself “abused” by Adidas, as the brand is launching a new sales round of Yeezy trainers. However, the shoes are fake, the controversial rapper claims.

Looking for millions

On 29 February, Adidas is launching a new sale of its remaining Yeezy stock that was left over after the termination of its collaboration with ‘Ye’. One specific model will be offered exclusively online, via the Adidas app and web store and the Confirmed app. The brand is also already hinting at future releases to get rid of more excess stock.

CEO Bjorn Gulden previously revealed that he will continue selling Yeezy shoes despite the termination, after previous sales rounds raked in 750 million euros. 40 % of the remaining stock has already been disposed of. With the new sale, Adidas aims to bring in at least 250 million euros.

However, Ye called the shoes “fake” on social media, claiming that he had never approved this version. He lashes out at the brand, saying he feels “raped” and “abused”. Not only is he allegedly not being paid for the shoes, but Adidas is claiming 250 million dollars from the rapper. In 2022, Adidas broke off its successful partnership with Ye due to his repeated racist remarks.

Just like the clothing, the business at AO76 is passed down from generation to generation. Today, 32-year-old Gaspard Poelman is at the helm of the brand that was known as “American Outfitters” until 2017 (and still is, to some extent). He’s bringing a breath of fresh air, but he’s also...
