About You, YOOX Net-A-Porter and Zalando launch joint climate initiative

About You, YOOX Net-A-Porter and Zalando are teaming up to reduce carbon emissions in their production chain. The three companies are launching a digital learning platform to help their sales partners to achieve their climate goals.

“Getting 90 % of partners on board”

The online fashion retailers are already taking initiatives themselves to reduce their emissions, but note that 70 % to 90 % of carbon emissions in the fashion industry are caused upstream in the supply chain: in production, preparation and the processing of materials. That is why sales partners need to get in on the act.

Partners who are affiliated with About You, YOOX Net-A-Porter and Zalando can now use a programme that shows them step by step how the complex process of measuring emissions works – free of charge. They learn how to set targets in line with climate science and how to submit them for approval to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

“We aim for 90 % of our partners (by emissions) to set science-based targets by 2025, and the new learning platform is a key initiative towards realising this ambitious goal”, says David Schneider, Co-CEO at Zalando.
