Belgian flower shop chain Bloemenhal is bankrupt again, just a year after restarting under a Dutch investment group. The administrator is looking for a buyer – again.
A second bankruptcy
Bloemenhal, founded in 2004, grew to have 27 stores at the moment of its first bankruptcy in April 2024. A saviour was soon found in a Dutch investor and the chain managed to restartn but that new lease of life did not last long: the chain, which had already slimmed down to fifteen stores and 25 employees, is declared bankrupt again.
Yesterday, the court’s decision was published in the Belgian Official Gazette, De Tijd reports. According to the administrator, there are interested candidate buyers for parts of – or the entire – chain. It remains to be seen, however, how much hope of survival the slimmed-down chain really has.
