DIY market group Hornbach has started the new financial year strongly. Thanks to favorable spring weather, an increase in footfall, and slightly higher average basket sizes, according to management.
“Higher demand rather than prices”
In the first quarter, which ran from March 1 to May 31, total sales increased by 5.7% to 1.9 billion euros. In the DIY stores themselves, sales rose by 5.8% to 1.8 billion euros. In the German home market, growth was 4.7%, while foreign operations performed even better with an increase of 6.9%. Today, international markets account for 52% of total sales.
