Bol.com launches French-language website

Ahold Delhaize subsidiary Bol.com has launched a French-language version of its website and is increasing the number of local sellers, to fuel its Belgian offensive. Until now, Bol.com was only available in French through an app.

Mostly website

The translation of its website is a “logical next step” for bol.com, after its French app had launched in August 2020. With the new website, francophone people in Wallonia and Brussels get full access to Bol.com’s product range – which was also expanded with more local sellers.

“One in every three French-speaking Belgians already know us, but while our app has been downloaded over 200,000 times, we still see almost half of all French-speaking customers navigate through the Dutch-language website. This is why we have decided to accelerate the launch of our full-blown French website”, Marketing Director Boukje Taphoorn explains.

Bol.com’s online marketplace is soaring as well, welcoming ever more local sellers. External sales partners already make up 60 % of all sales on the platform, as the number of sellers has more than doubled in two years’ time – from 20,000 to 47,000. French-speaking customers can choose whether to get their orders delivered, or to go to a pick-up point at a Delhaize supermarket. The platform also plans to open more pick-up points in the future.
