Dutch online platform Bol.com has officially expanded to the French-speaking part of Belgium with the implementation of the French version of its app. The Ahold Delhaize subsidiary is now looking to expand with local partners.

Only as app

French-speaking Belgians can now also shop on the bol.com app using their own language. The choice to start with only an app was deliberate, director Margaret Versteden says: "We choose to launch only as an app today, because research says that an increasing number of people do their online shopping on a mobile device."

All offers are automatically translated into French, as previously announced, meaning that bol.com's complete product range is available in French. Nevertheless, the company also wants to attract local partners to expand that range, and has therefore started looking for "a large number" of partners in the 'Wallobrux' (Wallonia and Brussels) region.

The platform claims that thousands of Belgian entrepreneurs have already found their way to its marketplace, including FMCG brands like Ecover and Guylian. The next step is to expand its click-and-collect scheme to 300 Delhaize supermarkets - including 58 in the French-speaking part of Belgium.
