Chocolate manufacturer Leonidas opened its new factory in Nivelles, an investment of nearly 100 million euros that will triple production capacity. However, the move proved more difficult and costly than expected. For the time being, the company is operating at only 80% of its previous productivity.
18,000 tons of chocolates
With the opening of the new factory in Nivelles, Leonidas is bidding a final farewell to Anderlecht, where the Belgian praline manufacturer had been in operation for over forty years. The 30,000-square-meter complex, situated on a five-hectare site, is three times the size of the old facility. Thanks to five additional production lines, Leonidas will eventually be able to triple its annual production, from 6,000 to 18,000 tons of chocolates.
