Aldi is opening five new stores in the United Kingdom in two days this week. The expansion is part of the plan to grow from 1,070 to 1,500 stores.
To 1,500 supermarkets
On December 11, stores will open in Uxbridge, Northallerton, Pershore, and on Old Kent Road in London; Yate near Bristol will follow on December 12. The five openings will create around 200 jobs.
According to Aldi, the openings demonstrate the scale and momentum of its UK growth plans. The chain is working towards a total of 1,500 UK stores. In 2025, the retailer had already invested £650 million (€760.5 million) in new openings and renovations. A further £1.6 billion (€1.872 billion) has been set aside for the next two years.
Jon Neale, managing director of real estate at Aldi UK, said: “Every new store opening is exciting, but opening five stores in 24 hours, just before Christmas, will make a huge difference to customers in each of these areas. It reflects the demand we are seeing across the UK and the scale of our ambition as we continue to grow.”
