American fashion group Gant has appointed Fredrik Malm as its new CEO, and has thus opted for an internal successor to Patrik Söderström, who is stepping down after six years.
To the top in one year
Malm joined Gant only last year, as Vice President of Commercial, Brand & Product. Prior to that, he led SNS and held senior positions at international brands such as Coach, Ecco, and Ralph Lauren.
Gant is part of the Swiss MF Brands Group, which also includes Aigle, Lacoste and Tecnifibre. CEO Thierry Guibert said in a press release that he was “pleased to announce the appointment of Fredrik Malm as CEO of Gant.” “Fredrik has brought valuable and extensive leadership experience from global premium fashion and lifestyle brands, including senior roles at Ralph Lauren and Coach. I have full confidence in his ability to support Gant in its next phase of development, which will notably involve the continued elevation of the collections and an accelerated retailization across both physical and digital channels.”
Gant was founded in 1949 in New Haven, Connecticut, and is present in more than 600 stores in 80 countries around the world. Its collections for men, women, and youth are, in its own words, “rooted in American East Coast heritage”.
