BHV’s Paris department stores have been granted protection from creditors. On Monday, a French court initiated judicial reorganization proceedings following months of financial difficulties, conflicts with suppliers, and controversy surrounding the partnership with Shein. The department store will remain open for the time being.
Disputes and controversy
On November 2, the Paris Commercial Court placed BHV under judicial supervision. The decision applies to both the historic Bazar de l’Hôtel de Ville in Paris’s Marais district and the location in the Parly 2 shopping center. Together, the department stores employ approximately 700 people.
