Inditex, the Spanish fashion group that owns fashion chains such as Zara, Bershka, and Stradivarius, has appointed former Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta as chairman of its International Advisory Board.

Advice on geopolitics

Inditex announced the creation of the advisory board in July during its annual general meeting, but did not disclose the composition of the board at that time. The new body, which met for the first time on November 27, will advise the board of directors on geopolitics, international economics, and other global issues.

In addition to Letta as chairman, the council includes members with diverse international backgrounds and extensive business and/or political experience: former South Korean Minister of Trade Taeho Bark, former British diplomat Simon Fraser, banker Rafael Gil-Tienda, tech entrepreneur Anne Lange, HP CEO Enrique Lores, and Brazilian diplomat Marcos Troyjo.

On Wednesday morning, the retailer published excellent results for the first nine months of the fiscal year: a record net profit of €4.622 billion, up 3.9% from the same period a year earlier.
