Since 1 October, French fashion brands are able to calculate and display an environmental score for their clothing. Every sweater, pair of pants, or dress can now be given an “eco-score” that reflects its impact on the environment.
The ecological cost
To calculate the score, all stages are weighed, from raw materials and production to transport, use, and end of life. To avoid differences between light and heavy garments, the score is always converted to 100 grams of product. The higher the score, the greater the ecological cost.
