Nike is restructuring its European logistics campus in Laakdal and Ham (Belgium), including collective layoff in the Technology department. The department employs almost 200 people, but not all will lose their jobs.
Centralizing IT
The decision is part of Nike’s so-called Global Technology Transformation, a reorganisation that the sports brand is implementing worldwide. “We have known since May that Nike Global was doing a transformation exercise in all countries. In America and several other countries this exercise has already been implemented, in Belgium it had yet to happen”, trade union ACV Puls’ Nathalie Engelen told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad.
