One of the oldest bicycle factories in the Netherlands is closing its doors: Batavus maker Accell is pulling the plug on production in Heerenveen, and with it, production in the Netherlands. Some 160 employees will lose their jobs.

The bike company behind brands such as Batavus, Koga and Babboe is discontinuing the last production in the Netherlands and moving all assembly to Hungary. Standard models are already made in Hungary, where production costs barely a third of the price, according to the FD.
