The opening date of the first Smyths Toys store in Belgium has been announced

It had already been known for some time that Smyths Toys would open its first brick-and-mortar store in Belgium at the City Nord retail park in Gosselies, near Charleroi. Now the date has been set: the store will open its doors on October 15, according to the shopping center’s website.

Earlier this year, the Irish retailer quietly established a Belgian subsidiary and, shortly thereafter, launched a basic Belgian website and a Facebook page. The Belgian online store has been live since late August. Observers and competitors are keeping a close eye on Smyths Toys’ arrival in Belgium.

After all, Smyths Toys is one of the largest toy retailers in Europe, with a strong presence in the United Kingdom and Ireland, as well as in Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, and, since 2023, the Netherlands, where the chain now operates eight stores. The retailer distinguishes itself with large stores offering a wide selection at low prices. Smyths Toys’ arrival in Belgium means additional competition for players such as King Jouet and DreamLand.
