Danish fashion group Bestseller is entering the capital of an American company that produces fully autonomous sewing robots. With its “Sewbots”, Softwear Automation aims to automate the sewing process, which is now largely done manually.

The Jack & Jones and Only owner has taken the lead in a capital round that will provide Softwear Automation with just under twenty million euros. Existing investors such as CTW Venture Partners and SRI Capital also participated, but the Danish fashion giant clearly brought the lion’s share. In return, Bestseller CFO Thomas Børglum Jensen gets a seat on the board of the Atlanta-based tech innovator.
