C&A closes 24 stores, 57 corners in France

Fashion giant C&A wants to close almost a quarter of its French stores and cut hundreds of jobs “in order to improve its competitive position in the difficult French market”. In addition, 57 corners within Auchan, Carrefour and Intermarché stores will also have to close.

More than 300 jobs lost

The closure of 24 stores and 57 shop-in-shops will put 290 jobs at risk, according to the French news website LSA . In addition, the distribution centre in Villenoy (near Paris) would be reduced in size, which would mean the end for another 26 jobs. The stores have “structural problems”, the management of C&A France said during a meeting with the trade unions.
