Former McDonald's executives open 250 healthy food restaurants

Use McDonald’s experience

Lyfe Kitchen’s backers are Mike Roberts and Mike Donahue, the former global president and former USA chief of corporate communication for McDonald’s. They joined hands with Stephen Sidwell, who helped created meat replacement Gardein, three years ago.

Every dish will contain no more than 600 calories, banning butter, trans fats, white sugar and other additives. Locally produced ingredients are also preferred. “We have learned that an American’s biggest need that goes unsatisfied is that of healthy, tasteful food”, the founders say. LYFE is short for Love Your Food Everyday.

Meat-eaters will have free-range chicken and meat, while vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free meals are also available, with prices ranging from 4 to 14 dollars (3 to 10 euro).

There is a huge difference in the things that both McDonald’s and Lyfe Kitchen offer to the customer, but it is mainly the way Lyfe Kitchen is being marketed that bears hints of the experience the founders have from their days at McDonald’s. Other healthy food chains are Clover, Veggie Grill, Tender Greens and Native Foods Café.
