The rescue plan, under which two British investment funds are taking over the struggling French home furnishings chain Maisons du Monde, has been finalized. This has averted the threat of a court-supervised restructuring after the chain posted a record loss.
“Continuing the transformation”
Maisons du Monde, which posted a net loss of 406 million euros last fiscal year and is burdened by heavy debt, reached an agreement in June with two British investment groups, Alteri Investors and Eicos Investment Group. They will acquire 95% of the company’s capital, as well as its 218 million euro debt, which will be converted into shares through a capital increase. New financing worth 25 million euros has also been arranged.
