The vast majority of Belgian furniture retailers scored poorly during inspections by the Federal Public Service Economy. 82.6 % of the 155 investigated retailers breached at least one regulation, with issues particularly prevalent in terms of price labelling, discounts, delivery terms and transparency obligations.

The investigation identified 537 violations in 128 retailers, revealing widespread non-compliance: more than 80 % of retailers were found wanting, with an average of 2.38 violations per company. A press release cites as major points of concern: order forms lacking vital details (198 cases), misleading or unclear pricing for products and/or services (116), and vague or absent delivery timelines (64). Transparency obligations were also frequently ignored, particularly the omission of company details on websites or social media (79 cases).
