Amazon is almost ready for its second Amazon Books store, in San Diego, after the first opened in Seattle. The second store of its intended book store chain will be located in the Westfield UTC shopping center.
Job openings since early February
Since the start of February, there were rumours Amazon was planning a new Amazon Books store when job openings for store managers and other Amazon Books positions were revealed. Amazon now confirmed the store will actually open soon.
“We are excited to be bringing Amazon Books to the University Towne Center Mall in San Diego and we are currently hiring store managers and associates,” said Sarah Gelman, Amazon spokesperson.
The store will be located in a 700 sqm location, with approximately 500 sqm of actual retail space. It is similar to University Village in Seattle, which is where Amazon opened its first Amazon Books store.
