Bol.com adds French version

General9 September, 2019

Next summer, Dutch e-tailer bol.com will expand to Wallonia with a French-language version of its app. The company is looking for local companies to sell on its platform.

Faster growth

The French-language app should give bol.com a first foothold in Wallonia, allowing French-speaking Belgians to order in their own language and parent company Ahold Delhaize to accelerate its growth in Belgium. It is not yet know if bol.com will also start using Delhaize stores in Wallonia as pick-up points, a tactic that has become commonplace in the Dutch-speaking region of Belgium.

At the moment bol.com has 20,000 partners in Belgium and the Netherlands, which cater for half of all the orders made on the bol.com platform. The company has now announced it will start looking for Walloon companies as well, starting early next year. “We have launched bol.com in Belgium in 2010”, general manager Huub Vermeulen says. “Now we can offer all the expertise we gathered over the last twenty years to companies in French-speaking Belgium as well.”

Huub Vermeulen is one of the speakers at the sixth edition of the RetailDetail Day, taking place on 19 September. Find more information and tickets here.
