Non-European marketplaces are attracting an increasingly large share of international e-commerce. Among the 100 largest platforms, nearly 80% of trading volume now comes from cross-border transactions. Amazon, Temu, and AliExpress lead the market.
European platforms keep losing ground
The European marketplace economy is becoming increasingly international. The 100 largest platforms operating in Europe are projected to generate 175.8 billion euros in gross trade volume by 2026. Of that total, 139.8 billion euros—or 79.5%—will come from cross-border sales, according to CBCommerce’s annual ranking of the top 100 online marketplaces in Europe.
