Thierry Garnier, who is currently CEO of the Kingfisher home improvement group, will assume the roles of President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and member of the Board of Directors of Ahold Delhaize on March 3, 2027.

Onboarding period

On January 11, Thierry Garnier will join Ahold Delhaize as executive vice president. During an onboarding period, he will familiarize himself with the company, its customers, and its people, the retailer announced in a press release. At the end of the day on March 3, 2027, he will then assume the role of President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and member of the Board of Directors of Ahold Delhaize for a four-year term.

Frans Muller, who is retiring, will step down on that same day. Until that date, he will remain fully responsible for the company’s leadership and will work with Garnier and the Supervisory Board to ensure a smooth and orderly transition.

Garnier, who holds dual French and British citizenship, has served as CEO of Kingfisher plc, an international retailer in the do-it-yourself sector, since September 2019. Prior to that, he worked at Carrefour for more than twenty years, where he held various leadership positions, including CEO of Carrefour International, CEO of Carrefour Asia, and member of the group’s executive management team.
