Fast food supplier Takeaway.com acquired its Bulgarian competitor BGmenu and its Romanian competitor Oliviera in yet another step towards its goal of being the European market leader.

New step towards European dominance

Thanks to the acquisitions, Takeaway.com has now strengthened its Eastern European position, which it says is in line with the strategy to become marketleader across the European continent. The meal delivery service says its goal is to become number one in every market in which it is active.

BGmenu is Bulgaria’s most popular meal delivery service, at least when it comes to the number of orders, and Oliviera is one of Romania’s largest meal marketplaces. Both companies were owned by the same holding led by CEO Vladimir Davtsjev. “BGmenu and Oliviera are two reasonably-populated, rapidly-growing home delivery services we can now add to our portfolio. Our goal is to apply the same strategy across every country, a strategy that has resulted in incredibly rapid growth for our Polish brand, Pyszne.pl”, Takeaway.com CEO and founder Jitse Groen said.

The company will pay 10.5 million euro to acquire both platforms, but it will invest a lot into the Bulgarian and Romanian markets to stimulate further growth.
