Price war with Coca-Cola leads to empty shelves at Aldi Germany

At Aldi in Germany, Coca-Cola supplies are running out at several stores. The discount retailer has temporarily halted orders following another price increase.

Business as usual

Coca-Cola raised its wholesale prices in Germany by an average of about 3.5% effective September 1. Netto and Lidl have already implemented the higher price, reports Lebensmittel Zeitung, but Aldi is still selling its remaining stock for 1.59 euros. Currently, however, deliveries to Aldi have been suspended because both parties are still negotiating the new terms.
