Luxury pastry shop Wittamer receives 3.8 million euros in fresh capital for restructuring and expansion

The owners of the Brussels-based pastry shop Wittamer are injecting 3.8 million euros into the company. With this fresh capital, the purveyor to the royal court aims to restore its balance sheet, open new stores, and build a new production facility.

Two new stores

Wittamer is receiving a new financial injection from its shareholders Jean-Claude Marian and Carlos De Meester, reports De Tijd. The investment comes at a critical moment: the pastry shop ended 2025 with an 11% decline in revenue, negative equity of 1 million euros, and more than 1 million euros in accumulated losses.

The capital increase is not only intended to address that financial legacy. At the same time, Wittamer aims to return to growth. CEO Laurent Baert (a former Carrefour manager) is working on a revamped product range, stronger brand positioning, and expanding the customer base. According to the company, the first signs point to a recovery: revenue was already 19% higher in the past third quarter.

Wittamer currently has three Belgian locations, but stores in Waterloo and Etterbeek will be added. In addition, the company is investing 1.5 million euros in a new 1,800-square-meter production facility in Evere, near NATO headquarters. The new complex is intended to support further expansion, including overseas. In Japan, for example, there are already 23 retail locations bearing the Wittamer name.
