After several difficult years, Jules Destrooper is back in the black. The cookie manufacturer was acquired by a new owner ten years ago, who turned the company around, and has also had a new CEO for the past year.
Back in the black
The holding company behind the West Flemish family business closed the past fiscal year with a profit of 1.9 million euros, compared to a loss of 5.5 million euros a year earlier. Hubisco, the holding company behind Jules Destrooper, is thus back in the black for the first time in six years, according to Made-In.
According to the Vandermarliere family, which acquired the cookie manufacturer in 2015, the turnaround is due to a combination of cost savings, additional commercial efforts, and a renewed management team. CEO Ives Depoortere ensured that revenue rose by more than 50% over the past decade and also significantly improved profitability, but passed the torch last year to FMCG veteran Wim Petermans.
