Franprix opened its first Belgian trial store

Food2 March, 2018

Franprix’ first Belgian store opened its doors on Wednesday 28 February. The retailer chose a location on the busy Elsensesteenweg and claims it has exclusive services and products.

Vague plans

The French convenience store formula’s arrival had been announced, but Franprix kept the details vague. The store opened last week, without too much of a fuss. Groupe Casino is very tightlipped about its ambitious and does not talk too about the move: “It is merely a test and not a precursor of an expansion beyond the French market.”

The convenience store says it has exclusive Franprix products, a bakery, fresh fruit juice, an ecological refill option for detergents and a tap for olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Remarkable for a convenience store is that it is open every day from 8 until 22, excluding Sundays. That is unlike its competitors in the same area, Carrefour Express, Proxy Delhaize and Picard.
