Foodmaker, the Belgian restaurant chain and producer of ultra-fresh meals, is taking a new step in its European expansion with its launch at the Austrian market leader Billa, a subsidiary of the Rewe Group.
“Proud of this milestone”
Foodmaker is introducing a selection of six cold and hot meals at Billa, Austria’s largest supermarket chain, with approximately 1,250 supermarkets and neighborhood stores. With this move, the Belgian company is further expanding its international retail network into a fifth foreign market. The brand is already available at Delhaize in Belgium and Luxembourg, Albert Heijn in the Netherlands, Monoprix and Franprix in France, and Rewe in Germany.
“We are very proud of this milestone in our growth story,” says Lieven Vanlommel, CEO of Foodmaker. “The fact that we are now active in five foreign markets proves that our vision of fresh, healthy, and accessible food is resonating outside of Belgium as well.” Foodmaker’s meals are prepared without artificial additives, preservatives, or refined sugars. It is the only player in Belgium with certification for “Biocyclic Vegan Agriculture.” Where possible, ingredients and herbs come directly from its own organic fields.
To meet growing international demand, Foodmaker has scaled up its production capacity to 160,000 meals per day. In the 20,000 m² central kitchen in Westerlo, 350 employees work daily to prepare the meals.
